Probably not a ton of demand for Pleasant Colony stallions even stakes winer ones considering Behrens hasn't set the world on fire.

Pleasant Tap might disagree with your assessment:
Ranked 4th among All Sires in 2006.
Sire of more than 40 Stakes Winners
including 2006 Grade 1 Winners
Premium Tap and David Junior.
Pleasantly Perfect would agree with Pleasant Tap
3-Time G1 Winner. The Ldg. Freshman
Covering Sire at 2005 Sales with a
$603,000+ Average.
All stallions are not successful. I don't think it is accurate to judge PC using Beherns as the benchmark.
As for Hydrogen, I saw alot of his races in NY... He was a "war horse" . Won 520K and ran 46 races. He placed in G2/G-3, and won a few handicap races. But compared to other PC sires, he doesn't have the G-1 resume.
As an aside, when I peruse the list of sires just standing in KY, it is a wonder that any but the very top sires succeed in terms of sales becasue there are just so very many nice stallions available, and pedigree wise, there is not qualitatively much differentiation among them.

I think the Behrens comparison was made because Hydrogen is by Pleasant Colony out of a half-sister to Behrens, so the best predictor of his sire potential would indeed be Behrens.
I don't know much about these things, but would you guys describe Pleasant Colony as a sire of sound horses?
