Fetlock cut, now most likely broken pastern

Postby Rubytuesday » Fri Apr 13, 2007 4:12 pm

Vet came out to check and see why there was still heat in a fetlock wound and swelling in fetlock and pastern.
He believes that the pastern is broke. (injury was done 7-8 weeks ago)
The horse moves fine at the walk and trot and plays like a nutcase when he can (muddy) He is not lame.

What is the recovery for this kind of injury (x-rays will be taken right away) Will he make anything more than just a pasture ornament?

It depends completely on the injury. He might be just fine. Depending on the break, a broken bone can be less debilitating, long term, than a suspensory or tendon injury.
