Ready's Image

Postby Heidilady » Wed May 02, 2007 4:00 am

I have someone on another board touting this horse and saying that not only are his works impressive but the horsemen buzz it that he shouldn't lose as 2yo. Now we all know there's a great of smoke potentially being blown up my you-know-what but he races this Thursday. A stakes race came up 6 fillies, 3 colts (not as nuts given the fillies being quicker at this point in their development this early in the year).

He's by More than Ready out of a Clever Trick mare. Has anybody seen him? Does he look like he can go very far?

I'm still having problems with the progeny feature glitch on the board so I can't smoke over his female family as I'd like. Any thoughts on that would be nice. Seems like only yesterday I was getting 2yo buzz on Half Ours. Wow time flies.

I haven't really looked at this critter's female family, however based solely on his sire and dam sire he should be a very tough two year old. Additionally, his win at Keeneland was ultra-impressive and he is owned, I believe, by the owner of More Than Ready (which does cast a little shadow on his $410,000 sales price).

I can see him being a "player" for the rest of the year, however in the race on Thursday, he is being placed against some critters whose connections might be willing to sacrifice quite a lot of the future for a "special" performance in this early two yr. old stakes.

The connections of the 9 horse are most likely looking for a huge sale figure and a win in this spot will give it to them. Also, Werner has a history of being hard to beat with early two's, however I don't remember many that went on to be quality three's.

The Vinery horse could give Trust N' Luck a huge boost and give an early buzz for next year. Also, this critter benefits from sire and dam sire, (both with significant "early" blood), as well as having a trainer who understands what his client's want and how to deliver.

The 4 horse is trained by Wes Ward and partially owned by him. There is another thread on here somewhere discussing him and his methods, so I won't bother elaborating further.

The Heilgbrodt horse looks tough and I would put in the same boat as Ready's Image... would like to win, but probably not at the same expense as some others.

I actually am somewhat surprised to see the 1 and 5 in here. Based solely on sires and my experience with Jump Start and Capetown foals, I would not have expected to see a couple this forwardly placed this early. I hope they are simply exceptional critters and not being overly rushed.
