Can't wait to breed to this one:

While casallc's lining up his breeding to the above noted unraced, freshman sire.....I'd suggest that there are in this auction plenty of proven Texas based/accredited sires with a race-bred pedigree/performance record that have shown themselves capable of producing many a good regional level competitor like:
Seneca Jones (Alydar)
Gold Legend (Seattle Slew)
Open Forum(Deputy Minister)
Boone's Mill(Carson City)
some relatively new comers that are making an early splash on the Texas (and Oklahoma/Louisiana) tracks, such as:
Truluck(Conquistador Cielo;
Captain Countain(Relaunch);
Chief Three Sox(Chief Honcho);
That's Our Buck(Buckaroo):
Magic Cat(Storm Cat);
Orbit's Revenge(Orbit's Dancer)
and some stallions entering their second or third year at stud that have been well supported - not just in numbers but in quality of mares and their connections, such as:
Early Flyer(Gilded Time)
Wimbledon(Wild Rush)
.....just to name a few.
There are also seasons offered to several wellbred young studs from Florida, West Virginia and Maryland based farms offered via this auction.
I find Too Much Bling fairly interesting but then I happen to like Rubiano.
I think I saw at least one proven sire from Louisiana, Time Bandit - there may be others. I think there is also the possibility/probability that new stallions will be added as the Auction progresses.
Even though we Texas based breeders & owners are (or soon will be) completely surrounded by states with some form of gambling supported purse structure there are more horse owners/breeders in Texas than in those neighboring states, many with ranches/farms that require some form of farming or breeding/ranching be conducted to maintain an Ag exemption from property tax valuations/rates and many will want to use the Texas Accredited rule that allows for breeding to out of state stallions every other year as long as the mare is booked back to a Texas Accredited stallion the following year......just as they have all during the time none of those neighboring states had gambling supported purses.
Potential bidders/mare owners might also take a close look at the 'considerations' some of these stallions are offering breeders in addition to the season, such as: live foal guarantees and free right of return.......other incentives.

My post was not to knock the quality of all Texas sires, just the lack of it on this one in particular. There are numerous good sires in Texas, far more than my state. I have a Tex/bred mare in foal to TX stud lined up at the Heritage sale. If I can steal her she will become OK/bred.
casallc - I didn't take your comment to be a knock on all the Stallions offered (I would have done one of those winky smiley's after my comment to indicate it was a playful tongue in cheeck 'back at'cha' if I could ever get them to work......as it was, I had enough difficulty getting the online auction url inserted in my first post). Anyway, I'm sorry if my 'snappy' reply to yours came off as 'snarky' instead. I confess: I can tend towards 'snarkiness' at times.
Just didn't want folks to lose focus on the fact that there are many nice stallions based here in Texas in addition to some attractive ones from out of state offered in the auction. I happen to agree with you that the one you mentioned is light as near as I can tell in all catagories for breeding consideration (though in truth I'm not sure about his conformation as it appears to me the photos linked to this stallion are of him as a long yearling/early 2YO). If that's the case - in the interest of trying to be fair - then he could look much different today - I certainly hope so. I also note that this stallion's connections' website indicates they are into breeding for other performance disciplines besides TB racing and this stallion may suit those other pursuits well enough.
B/T/W - good luck with your Texas-bred acquisition plans - we can use all the support we can get in Texas right now and welcome it from all corners (OU's defeat of UT at the Cotton Bowl last weekend notwithstanding!!)
