New author contest

Hi all,

I got a little bored last summer and punched out a novel. With little hope, I entered it in the Amazon Breakthrough New Author contest (me and 5,000 other people). Well, lo and behold I made the first cut (down to 835), with the following cut coming next month.
Finalists will be determined, in part, by reader comments as well as a Publisher's Weekly critique.
If you find the time and feel like it, you can go to the link below and read the excerpt. It is about horse racing (though the excerpt doesn't get to that part), so at least some of you might find it interesting.

Right now, I'm ranked #33 by customer reviews. To make the next round, I need to finish in the top 100 by Feb 19. So...if you have the desire to take come time and write a review, it would be much appreciated.
