Body Builder for horses currently racing
I know sales prep folks use Body Builder to add weight & muscle....My question is does that muscle really add to performance in a TB race horse or just looks good?? My TB who has been running good..3d in a Stakes Feb & just won last week an Allowance race...needed to gain just a little weight. My trainer who does not like to give many addition supps agreed BB would not hurt...he is eaating better & has already in 2 weeks gained some weight.....has anyone had experience with racing horses on it?? Anyone ever see a drop in performance after the bulk up??

Racing weight
It can go either way. People love to see the weight on them but it's not always the best for their performance. Some do better with the extra energy and reserves, others slow down from carrying around the extra weight. I had one filly that was a very rangy distance runner. If she looked good, she could NOT run. If she was thin (not starved, just lean racing fit) she could move up considerably. She was a very rhythmical runner vs a powerful runner so the weight really just got in her way. Try a race or two with the extra weight and see if it helps or hurt and be prepared for either outcome. There are lots of armchair critics but let the horse show you her best weight.

We have used it in the past and really liked it. had horses do better with it. Obviously you have to decide which ones need it and which ones don't. We did not give it to everybody. But the ones who we did. did better. It is like everything. Everything in moderation and see the results for yourself. Racing is almost like an experiment.
