Postby Pawtucket » Fri Dec 12, 2008 1:40 pm

Gerry Trupia appeared in Troupsburg Town Court yesterday regarding her guilty plea to two counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals.

News reports are at the Wellsville Daily Reporter at
http://www.wellsvilledaily.com/state_news/x776483159/Troupsburg-horse-cruelty-sentence-delayed

and at WETM-TV at
http://www.wetmtv.com/news/local/story/Animal-Cruelty-Case-in-Troupsburg-Court/dskPvlPtbUGrKo7fRPv9IQ.cspx

Both stories quote her as saying, "I think it's a joke."

She is scheduled to appear next Wednesday, December 17, 2008.

And that is the problem with these people, they never see they did anything wrong. Sad

Certainly one horse is too many to be placed in a starvation mode unless there are health factors compromising the ability to eat. Then it's a judgement call to euthanize or not based upon those health factors.

Is there any court documentation regarding the number of horses that were evaluated and determined to be in starvation mode? Was there any documented vet evaluation done to determine if any of the horses were emaciated due to reasons other than failing to feed?

At her website and in the above reports she claims fat horses, green pastures and feed on the farm premises.

Just wonder if there was anything in the court procedings that factually identifies the number of horses determined as victims??

As we all know well, as horse people, we often have few skills valuable outside of the animal world. Does Gerry?
What is she going to be ABLE to do to financially support herself (let alone pay the ordered restitution)?
Or is Mommy Dearest Enabler going to pony up the cash?
DOES Gerry have some office skills or whatever that can see her getting a job outside of horses, or other large (or small) animals?
