Reading race records

Postby foothillsequine » Sat Jun 13, 2009 8:24 pm

I am trying to understand the symbols used in a race record. For example, under the date, track and distance, there may a symbol of an A with a circle around it, or a T with a circle around it. What do those mean? It is probably not rocket science, but if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

A is likely All weather as in a synthetic surface or polytrack as opposed to dirt. T is turf. Some tracks have different symbols for different turf courses as well. Were you reading Past Performances from particular tracks?

Thanks fair play, yes, I was reading a brisnet report of lifetime past performance. So I was stumped as I am a newbie in actually paying attention to them. Thanks again, that makes perfect sense. I appreciate your help.
