She's in the process of updating the site, this used to have a big link, now it is kind of hidden.

out of interest.. has anyone had any horses tested using the dun zygosity test?
if so.. what were the results?.. anything like you expected. I am curious because we have had some tested that have come back neg.. (maybe its because they are apps?.. I dont know..) They certainly look very dun, and have no cream breeding so cant be buckskin.
Also.. The kiwi splashed whites, they also look very dun, (obviously they cant be buckskin..since southern hemisphere had a ban on cream genes till this year)

That's interesting, I had a red dun QH mare that was marked and colored exactly like that--back stripe, shoulder color, etc. She also had 2 red dun foals. I wonder, if she didn't have the "dun" gene, just what you would call this? Her one other foal was a beautiful chocolate brown before turning gray (from sire).
Even, though, if that is the same horse that is in your avatar, she looks very chestnut with a flaxen mane while she is running? My mare definetely was not chestnut.

She was in winter coat in my avatar. She gets much oranger in winter but the dorsal stays just as clear. She sheds out a very pale TAN color in the spring with a dark red dorsal and darker legs.
I am of the belief that there is more than one dun mutation. I know a few researchers that also believe this. The one that UC Davis is tracking may just not be responsible for certain dun horses.

I wish that I still had my grulla. He was a funky color. I could have had him tested. Your mare has all the markings of a dun.
