Race last night

Postby Roguelet » Thu Sep 30, 2004 8:55 am

I'm so proud of my girl, I have to share... remember the filly that was in the photo for win the weekend before last and ended up second by a nose? Well, she ran again last night, again a photo for win (this time between three horses) and this time she got it!

It's the funniest win picture I've ever seen. It was taken a jump or two before the wire, and in the picture she's actually third!

What's really exciting about this is that she's always liked the lead, and in her last two races, she's come from behind with a strong finish, showing us that she has a whole 'nother dimention!

Yeah, baby! What I like to hear! Now, is this a filly you own, you bred or you trained? Or all three! LOL!

Two of the three. She's one that we conceived, foaled out, raised, etc. We own her and we bred her, but we leave the training to the professionals!

It is nice to have a homebred showing her stuff, though... especially since we also have her 3 half-sisters, one who's about to enter her first race as a 3YO, one yearling, and one weanling. There's just *something about* her mom that we really like... looks like it's coming through.

Congratulations Roguelet!

I think that race was on TVG, and I missed it. Darn!
Is she an Indy Mood?

Thank you everyone!

She's not an Indy Mood, she's a Daufuskie Pirate. (I can just hear everyone going... "WHO?")

Well, she's already outdone her "old man" then, since he couldn't win in 11 tries. Congratulations!

Sounds like she's got it figured out now.

What's your filly's name? I'd like to add her to my virutal stable, if you don't mind. :D

Daufuskie Pirate has a stakes winner, according to this database, so perhaps we shouldn't sneer. And now another winner!

Congratulations.

Her name is Shesasassiedancer. Daufuskie Pirate has very few offspring on the ground, but for the most part they seem to do pretty well. Sassie's 16-2-2-0 and just now coming into her own, so I'm OK with that.

Interesting story on her sire... I'll give you the short version and spare you all the details:

We actually took our mare to be bred to a different stallion standing at that farm. He bred her, she came back empty. Meanwhile, during the two weeks since we had picked her up, that stallion had brutally attacked one of the farm owners... she almost died. The only reason she lived was because their other stallion (Daufuskie Pirate) broke out of his stall and attacked the first stallion, allowing the farm owner to drag herself to safety and call for help. So, when we called them to let them know we were bringing our mare back, they told us that the stallion had been put down and offered us a breeding to their other stallion instead.

At the time we were just so shocked that we didn't really think much about it, we just took her to the stallion and that was that. Sassie is the result of that mating and right now I couldn't be happier with the result... I guess it was one of those "meant to be" things.
