There is a horse at Penn that is being run once every six or seven days, and has been since July when she was either sold or given away by her previous trainer. She is being run at any and all conditions, and is running poorly, last, second last.
I at one time was going to purchase her from a previous owner and he changed his mind, ended up she was claimed at Penn the next time he ran her and I have been following her.
She is still at the same conditon she was in when I was to purchase her.
It it horrible to see her being run once a week, without fail.
I would offer to purchase her from this so called trainer.
This is really upsetting to me. Are there any rules against this? This is not right. What are they trying to DO?

She was just 4th 3 starts ago, so she has plenty of starts left. In that race she was in front and tired. She led and tired to finish third 5 starts ago, in her July 14th race (65-1). This will be her 16th start for the year, hardly a terrible thing in late August - that is an average of 2 starts per month for the year to date. She came off the pace to run 3rd May 26. I would certainly hesitate to call her trainer a bad trainer in a public forum based on her form, especially if you are a trainer yourself. Did I see a post recently where you were looking for owners to run in Ohio and at Mountaineer? Do you race here (Mountaineer) often? I am stabled at MNR myself, perhaps I know you?
This filly isnt lighting the world on fire but as she belongs to someone else, she is their property and they are free to race her as often as they want as long as she is eligible for the race and the racing office accepts the entry. Looking at her chart I see no reason for them to refuse an entry on this horse. She is hitting the board every 3-4 starts and must be fairly sound to run so often.

My apologies to the trainer, however, do not think running a horse each and every week is going to produce more than an extremely tired horse.
Maybe he runs all his horses this way, I have no idea who he is. If you average her starts for the year it looks great, but she changed ownership in July and was not started weekly prior to that change, that is my issue. I don't care how fit she is, that is just not fair to her.
I certainly hope she wins soon, so I can stop worrying about her.
Jess, I am an owner not a trainer, have bred and raced off and on in Ohio for years. Had a couple of seconds this year at Mountaineer. Only took one horse down so far, and she has done very well, moving from claiming on up.
It is a great thing that you try to place horses when they are done racing.

Well if it is any consolation, usually when a trainer runs a horse every week that means they don't gallop often, if at all. I imagine she is probably racing one day a week and walking the rest.
You could always claim her for yourself. Then as the person paying the bills for her you would get to call the shots and decide how often she should be racing.
Who is your filly who has run here at Mnr? Congrats on having some successful trips down here to the Mountain - it always make shipping elsewhere to race more fun if you have some profitable trips.

you gotta put up or shut up....im not a proponent of once a week..except in rare spots.....but i wouldnt want anyone telling me what to do with my horses.....
