Looks like a fat paint horse to me! Doesn't give her name but it looks like she could pack someone around for hours. . .

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

paint/tb mare
...I looked at her as well. Pitty she's so small. The owner/breeder didn't own a mare over 15.1, and I believe Lady Shantaria was 15h if memory serves me. He was breeding for paint horse racing in Texas, and was crossing Secretariat and Stormcat lines, trying to duplicate a formula he read about utilized by D.Wayne Lucas. Unfortunately didn't improve on the Blue Gazi line at all(IMO), and with such short broodmares made it a tough sell for many of the offspring. Conformtion, movement and height were not a consideration from what I could tell- strictly race breeding.
This young mare has been tossed around a bit, having been purchased by a breeder in California and sent to Marquetry along with one other mare. I had a chance to view her filly and that of the other mare, though both mares had already been placed. They were all sold off for pennies when the owners in California apparently abandoned the horses for whatever personal reasons, leaving board bills and stud fees unpaid, as per the owner of Waterford Farm. They graciously foaled out the mares and cared for the foals until they could place them. This young mare and the other went to homes in the Lexington area. The two fillies went as racing prospects, and the owners of Marquetry were kind enough to release the service certificates, even though the stud fee wasn't paid. A very kind gesture towards the foals, since they were only asking $500 each for the youngsters. The filly from Secret Streaker was suprisingly large(Marquetry must be a pretty big individual), and had markings like her sire, with a splashy white undercarriage. With so many breeders struggling in the industry, it really says a lot about the folks at Waterford for doing right by the horses. Hope this stout little mare finds a good spot!

paint/tb mare
...just wanted to add that this mare is as cute as she can be, and when I said that this line wasn't improved upon, I meant to say that it wasn't really diversified in my opinion. I've seen several very nice looking siblings. I previously owned a sibling-another filly- and loved her temperament, conformation and movement. Wasn't quite tall enough to suit my needs, and wasn't far enough along in her training to be a good match for my very young daughter who just started riding. She's now in training with her new owner for jumping and dressage. Sorry to overexplain myself, but comments can so easily be misinterpretted. If I had a tall grayhound of a stallion, I would take a chance on her!

I don't remember how tall Marquetry was, but our Marquetry daughter is 16.2, so there might be "tall genes."
