Ok, Crystal is going to conduct a little trivia.. What do YOU think this unraced son of Storm Cat is worth compared to what Dynamic Equine is asking?
I have no idea what they are asking, and no price is listed. This is a private sale company that I believe just acts as agent. They had one other Storm Cat colt forsale forever, so they're turn around is not super fast, so I'm guessing most of their sales are from free/cheap websites which are not known for high dollar sales.
but anyway, private sale price..
I'm going to GUESS they are asking in the mid 20s' when in reality it is a 5k regional stallion prospect.
I'm not ripping apart the ad by any means, so I don't think it's against the rules. I just want to weigh the pros and cons of this stallion and look at other educated guesses on what he is worth/asking price.
Hope it's ok.
Trivia- what do u think he's worth?

According to the BloodHorse stallion register there are currently more than 100 Storm Cat sons available at stud. The lowest fee given is $1,000 though many are listed as "private". This guy's from a nice family but not one that screams Sire to me. He ran once, at 4, and wasn't competitive. Seeing him as a sire of racehorses is a stretch unless someone wanted to simply use him on their own mares and see what happened.
The sporthorse people don't like to see Storm Cat in a pedigree because they've been brainwashed to believe that all SCs are crazy and unsound so that market is probably unavailable as well. In short I would think that that stallion's best opportunity might be as somebody's nice gelding. His price then would depend on his soundness, temperament, and how well he moves and jumps.

A few comments about ads in general - not an opinion on the advertised horse in question.
If the horse is by a major sire like Storm Cat there's no need to go on and on about the sire. If a potential buyer doesn't know all about a major sire like Storm Cat then they're too stupid to buy your horse.
Conversely, if your horse is by an obscure sire and you DO have to "tell' people about the sire or you have to talk about the sires pedigree then your horse isn't by anything.
Also, a horses own nick rating says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the QUALITY of their pedigree or their aptitude for breeding. A nick rating of a particular horse just means they were bred on a cross that has been successful - and if the horse in question wasn't successful that means that despite being bred on a well thought of cross they STILL stunk.

In today's economy, he is worth nothing. Like LB says, there are more SC sons at stud now than the breeding market can support. Ashkal was $475K yearling sale, then unraced, and his dam has produced 5 foals with only one to race, a filly winning $79K. Not much there.
I don't know how the present owners came by the colt, but I'd guess they'd hold on to whatever they paid for him. So you figure they want $500K, if they picked him at the yearling sale. Is that the trivia answer?
All the junk they lifted and placed in that ad is absolutely unreadable. Anyone interested in the colt would suffer eye fatigue and headaches before coming up with a reasonable offer for this horse. The ad is a joke.
This kind of reminds me of the AKC dog breeders who are selling pet quality dogs for $1000. Because it is AKC, they want you to think the mutt is more valuable than one without papers.

So pretty much everyone has posted in on the same page with this horse in that he cannot be worth whatever they are asking for him. Again, I dont know but with as much junk as they took the time to write in the listing they are reaching for just about anything to make him seem like he is worth something.
I agree gelding him and re schooling him would be his best shot. I also agree marketing him to sport horse people wouldnt be his best venue either. Not so much sporthorse people would think he is crazy, but that he wasnt raced due to unsoundess or injury.
In a market that already has the high and middle markets flooded with horses of all breeds, this guy IMO is going to be advertised for a while and fall off the map.
Hope his connections can do something responsible for him. But really this would be a $1,000 Book 6 KEENOV horse ATBEST.
