Re-Halo-A poor man's Northern Dancer?

Postby Shawklit Won » Mon Jul 18, 2011 7:40 pm

I have heard that Halo himself could be pretty nasty. People that own some of his grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, etc. have said that they are nice horses (the ones that they own). I think that like any other group of horses, there are some nice ones and some that aren't.

Dynaformer has that reputation, but I haven't heard that about Nicanor, Lentenor, or any of that family.

If the Halo's are all so nasty, then how about all the horses that have Halo in their pedigrees, like Fusiachi Pegasus, just to name one? If Halo is the BM sire of a horse, or grand BM sire, wouldn't his mean streak also be passed on?

I think that the real problem with the Halo's is the bottom line. It always comes down to money, and the Halo's just have never sold very well, although More Than Ready's progeny do pretty well at the sales. Maybe they aren't as pretty as some of the others, but I have seen some very nice looking Halo's.

BTW, I have heard that the Forty Niners can be pretty nasty.

BTW, this was supposed to be a reply to the thread: Halo-A poor man's Northern Dancer? I must have pushed the wrong button or something.
