frank Alverado need to seriously find a new profession

so he is on the heavy fav in the race. he's got a hand full of horse at the turn. and he's all int he rear view mirror. he spent the entire turn looking under both shoulders, figuring he had the horse in front of him dead to rights ("which he did)

and while he's looking under his left shoulder, here comes the 2, chasin perfection, storming by him in the stretch to win by about a length.

if he just rode his damn horse he would have won the race.

The worst ride I ever saw was Go Go on Hard Spun in the Belmont, he did everything in his power to keep Curlin boxed in, he was upset that Larry Jones would not release him to ride Rags, so, in my opinion, he did not ride to win, and worst of all, in my opinion, he knew what he was doing which makes it all the more improper.

that was pretty bad. but in that instance, i don't think he had enough horse to win anyway

Frank Alvarado had this race over a barrel x5 and was so busy showboating he let someone else get first jump. by the itme he realized he was being passed he couldn't catch the horse.

I get your point, however just because Hard Spun could not hold on in the Derby, if he had been allowed to run early and he runs 1:10 and change for the first 6 furlongs, the second 6 furlongs may not have been as easy for Rags and Curlin, and if that were the case they would not have been so tightly grouped, the outcome could have been different with a faster pace and Go Go robbed us of that.
