Yes there are quite a few open races here. Our trainer runs a lot of Kentucky and Cal-breds, including multiple stakes winner Pendleton who came from one of the Kentucky sales. He's even got a son of American Pharoah.
The only time we've shipped to Arizona is when we have a horse that needs some time in the equine pool. That's happened twice. We've never had one of ours start there, but Justin does occasionally run a horse at TP, but there's a big difference in the purses between AZ and NM.
He has looked at other tracks as an option, but for now he's staying put, because moving his operation is a huge deal and there's no guarantee once he set up at a new track that that track wouldn't then shut down. For us, taking Blazing Away out of state would be a huge downside. As owners/breeders the NM bred incentives are huge. It would depend if the purses elsewhere could make up the difference.
Let's hope this is over soon.
