Yesterday at Belterra Park in the 2nd race, Wesley Ward ran a homebred son of American Pharoah, making his first lifetime start, for $4K! Hesitation Blues was well named as he hesitated and finished well back, beat by 20+ lengths. The horse is a gelding so hopefully his new connections can figure him out and some success - oh YES he was claimed. Even at Belterra Park where almost no claiming ever happens because of (A) strictures of Ohio jail and (B) no state vet or guarantee of any kind of soundness.

If he's as handsome as his sire and has a similar easy-going temperament, maybe he'd make a nice show horse for someone if he just hasn't got the wherewithal to be a racer.

Yes, one would hope that! Although $4K is a little steep for an OTTB to do that with. I was too busy prepping my filly for her race to have time to go over to the paddock to see him.
