Carrier Pigeon, would like info on him.

Postby mergie » Sun Oct 10, 2004 2:39 pm

Hi
Does anyone have info on the horse? I am curious about his color and markings, the ASB said he was ch., ro.
I saw that he was listed on a wesbite about birdcatcher spots and he does have Bend Or in his pedigree.
Thanks
mergie

Thanks for the reply Michael.

The Carrier Pigeon I am interested in is older and w/o a'd' in his name.

The Carrier Pigeon I know of has no "d", but was a foal of 1937
A son of Equipoise & Rockdove by Friar Rock.

Started 11 times, won 4 @ ages 2 & 3. Pleaced 2nd in the Shevlin Stakes.
Retired to stud - sire of 216 foals, 6 Stakes-winners
AEI = 1.03.

My old Keenelnad Breeder's Sales Catalogues from the 50's had a lot of Carrier Pigeons in them or mares by him.

Carrier Pigeon was also a known carrier of the rabicano gene and a lot of his offspring showed the trait. There was a article at Thoroughbred Times about color in TB's and if I can find what I printed, I'll post it for you.
