Seems all of our horses lately want distance... it used to be all we had was sprinters! Times, they are a-changin...

W.P. Distance???
Well, our trainer has been testing the waters with War Proposal to see if she wants to go long, and so far it appears that she's saying YES, PLEASE! So... looks like we might try her long (and I think the race we want will be on the dirt, not turf, but at this point I really don't care what surface it's on.) So, we'll see if that makes a difference.

Well, then she's training true to her pedigree! That's good to know... now I feel a little more comfortable about the race she's entered in. She'll be going 1 mile 70 yards on the dirt on Wednesday, no odds are posted yet.
So, Bill... does the conduit profile go straight along the female line? I guess what I'm asking is, should a half-sister to War Proposal also love distance because the mare's side is the same? Or does the sire side factor in there too. I'm sure this has been explained before, and I really need to get your book and study it so I understand it all, so forgive me if that is a stupid question.

The profiles take into consideration the female families of every horse found within a 4 generation pedigree, top and bottom, with special emphasis on the female families of the sire and dam. Some of the influences would be the same, based on the dam's contributions, but a different sire's female family would/could change the profile.

Well, Bill, you were right. She won the race, and the trainer said she came out of it very well. Apparently, the distance is easier on her than the sprinting!
It was a very exciting race to watch. The jockey had to check back on her a couple of times before the first turn, and she ended up very near the back of the pack. Then out of nowhere, she made one heck of a move... I mean, she started passing those horses like they were standing still. Then in the stretch the jockey had his whip knocked out of his hand by another rider's whip, so he took off his goggles and used those to urge her on. She hooked up with the leader who fought back, but then she got the best of her and pulled away to win. Anyone who has race replay access might enjoy watching it.
We've got one in tomorrow and one in Saturday, so I'm really hoping our luck holds through the weekend.
