UPDATE w/catalog&pics online! FAIRMOUNT PARK AUCTION 9/1

Postby Briscomomma » Wed Aug 31, 2005 2:56 pm

*Update for 9/6/05:
Entries for the sale closed today and there were over 100 entries at close of business. And there are always plenty of late entries. I sure hope we can come up with a crowd that can sustain this number of horses. It's a record high for this sale, and 2x as many as usual.

We have photos up of about 30 of them, many already listed in the CANTER S. IL trainer listings. Please please please, if you have a moment, crosspost to anywhere & everywhere you can think of about this sale. The number of entries is absolutely staggering and it is so important to have buyers there in numbers than can accommodate this size of a sale book.

I will be at the track tomorrow trying to get as many photos as possible of the other 70 horses, and get them posted ASAP - sometime by tomorrow evening I hope. Please please, have a look and pass the word. I'm also going to try to figure out a way to scan & put the catalog online if it can be done so that its legible.

END OF SEASON AUCTION AT FAIRMOUNT PARK 9/10/05
THOROUGHBREDS OF ALL AGES

WHERE: Fairmount Park Racetrack in Collinsville, Illinois

WHEN: Saturday, September 10 at 10AM

While we have NO AFFILIATION WITH THIS SALE (it is put on by the Illinois HBPA), CANTER Southern Illinois does it's best each year to see that has many horses as possible get a chance for homes. Generally speaking 25-40% of these horses go for under $500, although last year was a huge success is getting prices up with only about 10% going for under $500, and we were able to see that they didn't fall into foul luck.

This sale is open to the public and consists *mostly* of failing or failed racehorses. If you want more information about the sale, please visit our paddock sale FAQ page before contacting us with questions as this is a very hectic time of year for us.

CANTER Southern Illinois also combines efforts with The Exceller Fund, Rerun, and The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation to help see that horses do not fall through the cracks. If you would like to contribute towards our efforts at this year's sale, donations can be mailed to:

CANTER of Southern Illinois
252 Bethel Meadows Road
Caseyville, IL 62232

or through the PayPal button on our website at
http://www.canterusa.org/southernillinois/donations.htm

Please note that you would like your donation to be a part of our paddock sale fund. This fund will be used for the purchase, transport and rehab of horses from this year's end of meet.

Thank you so much for reading, and please spread the word!!

I got an advance copy of the sale book and scanned & uploaded all 22 pages to our website. We also added a few photos today, not as many as we'd have liked but will be back again tomorrow.

Please note the book that was scanned is the advanced book - pick up a hard copy if you come to the sale so that you can have one that has the barn & stall of the horses noted (our copy online does not).

Again, please please PLEASE take a moment to cross post about the sale anywhere you can think of. With the horrible events due to Katrina, donations to other charities are down, and with the gas prices I am concerned we will have less bidders - but with 2x as many horses. :(

Once again, the page with the photos of horses entered & the sale book (scroll down the page) is located here:

We also have taken a few new trainer listings in the past few days as well - take a look!
