| Hermes went blind from an inflammation when racing in Winchester, and was sold to Strathmore, later used both as a hack and a driving horse by the Earl. He was used sparingly as a stallion, and serviced mares for 15 guineas, including a number of half-breds, producing some excellent trotting horses.
