Family 70 is a relatively short-lived family which becomes defunct in the 1750s
3rd dam of [William's] Squirrel (1726 King's Plates York and Newmarket, 1726 King's Plate Newmarket), but her greatest contribution to the breed is as the 3rd dam of Smith's Son of Snake, sire of Mother Western, grandam of Eclipse, the greatest racehorse of the 18th century and from which over 95% of today's thoroughbreds descend in the direct male line
