| Owner: Henry Lowther, 3rd Viscount Lonsdale
One of a number of stallions at the Lowther stud at Lowther Hall, Westmoreland; he may be the same horse as another or others of the stallions with a Lonsdale appellation.
Sire of 1) Monkey - 800 guineas sweepstakes Newmarket [1730], King's Plate York [1731], undefeated in 2 career starts; 2) Spider - good class winner in 1734 and 1735; 3) Kouli Khan - Ladies' Plates Lincoln and Oxford [1736]; 4) Cyprus - King's Plate Edinburgh [1738]; 5) Sultan - sire of the dam of Grenadier - King's Plate Nottingham [1752] and King's Plate Newmarket [1753]; 6) Veteran - King's Plate Ipswich [1746]; and 7) a number of mares which breed on producing fair class winners
Lonsdale Bay Arabian is recorded as the sire of an unnamed mare out of Bonny Lass, which perpetuates part of Family 1-a, but to account for her own colour and her grey descendants she must have been sired by the Lonsdale Grey Arabian instead. Two Derby winners, Rhadamanthus (1790 Derby) and Daedalus (1794 Derby), trace to that mare.
