"Mr. Chenault, however, did not care to keep Patroness, and in 1899 she was consigned to a Lexington combination sale, went begging, and was bought up by the Breeders' Protective Association for $50, and, with forty-four other outcasts, sold to Ferguson & Co., of Atlanta, who, in turn, sold her in the Atlanta market.
