The GSB states that [William's] Squirrel is a brother to Smith's Son of Snake. However, Cheny's 1728 Racing Calendar (a contemporaneous source), Baily's Racing Register and an Introduction to the GSB, 1791, all say that
Smith's Son of Snake is the sire of [William's Squirrel], not his brother.
