Sire of Flying Childers and Bartlet's Childers
Champion Sire in Great Britain in 1722
The Darley Arabian was purchased at Aleppo in Asia Minor and brought to England as a four year old in 1704 by Thomas Darley for his father Richard Darley. The stallion stood from 1704 at the Darley family stud's in Aldby, Yorkshire, apart from a season spent with the Duke of Leedes in exchange for a prize bull, until his death, probably in 1730.
