Foundation Mare Family 32
The family survives to the present day
Dam of [Cook's] Vixen (by Helmsley Turk) through which the maternal line of the family continues
The GSB says a "Barb Mare, was imported in the time of Charles II. She was sold to Mr Child by the studmaster, after the King's death, for 40 gs., at 20 years old, when in foal (by the Helmsley Turk) with Vixen, dam of the Old Child Mare." She was carrying Dodsworth [Barb] in utero when she was imported. As Charles II died in 1685, this dates Dodsworth's Dam's foaling to 1665.
Her son Dodsworth [Barb] sired Trumpets's Dam, the third earliest mare in the lineage of Family 4 and grandam of Brown Farewell, the grandam of Matchem, three time Champion Sire and main conduit of continuing the direct male line of the Godolphin Arabian into the 19th and 20th centuries and (barely) to today
