Painting attributed to John Best. Note from Christies of London catalog, "Highflyer, was foaled in 1774, and owned by Lord Bolingbroke . 1779 for 2 500,- Pound by Richard Tattersall. Unbeaten in 12 starts on the racecourse, Highflyer went on to sire three Derby winners at Highflyer Hall, Tattersall's home near Ely in Cambridgeshire." Richard Tattersall was founder of Tattersall's Auction house.
Actually he was bred by Sir Charles Bunbury, foaled at Great Barton, Suffolk.
