Milbanke's Bald Peg was traditionally associated with Family 6 due to a suggestion in the GSB [1891 volume, p.19] that she might be Young Bald Peg or her grandam, Old Bald Peg. However, this is clearly erroneous from the relevant horse progeny's dates, which give estimated foaling dates of 1645 Old Bald Peg, 1681 Young Bald Peg and 1700 Milbanke's Bald Peg. There is also no early historical record associating her with the Old Bald Peg line.
On the contrary, a stallion advertisement in the York Courant of 9 April 1754, certified by a member of the Milbanke family, for a son of Cartouch which was a descendant of Milbanke's Bald Peg,
states she was by Burford Ball out of a Royal Mare bought by Sutton Oglethorpe (therefore confirming she was not part of Family 6). She has therefore been assigned to a family called, for convenience, 6-x.
Dam of a daughter by Wilkinson Barb through which the maternal line of the family continues
