Supposedly during this match Bajazet's jockey slipped off his weights and had them returned to him before weighing out. This ruse was discovered and Sir Ralph Gore (owner of Othello) challenged Lord March (owner of Bajazet) to a duel. When they met to duel the next morning, Lord March decided to apologise after seeing the coffin provided for him by Sir Ralph
