| Breeder: Clarence H. Mackay, Kingston Stud
First known as "California". After going unsold at the Mackay sale in New York on September 5, 1907 with a reserve of $15,000, he was sent to England within the month. He went into training with Sam Darling at Beckhampton, with the goal being the Epsom Derby of 1909. If he had proven good enough, he was to have taken his great sire's place at Kingston Stud.
Unplaced in the June 1908 Woodcote S. (Epsom) in his first start. By September that year, DRF was calling him "a crazy horse" and "one of the worst actors ever seen in English racing".
