One of the celebrated racehorses of his day, undefeated in 1764 and 1765, but beaten by [Galloway's] Selim at Chestertown in 1766, and after 6 years at stud he returned to the racecourse to win a 5 mile match carrying 12 stone 12lbs
Sire of quite successful stallion McCarty's Cub; of grandam of top class racehorse [Ogle's] Oscar, winner of Jockey Club Purses 1804-1806 and a successful stallion; of the dam of Commutation, sire of the grandam of 1) outstanding racehorse and sire Sir Charles (20 victories from 26 career starts, mostly in the highest class, Leading Sire in North America 1830, 1831, 1832, 1833, 1836); and of 2) Janette, winner of top class races in 1826;
of Young Selima, the dam of 1) top class racehorse Bell-Air (winner of Jockey Club Purses between 1791 and 1793, and very successful stallion, notably as sire of Bellona, dam of top class racehorse Sir William and grandam of great racehorse Henry); and of 2) the outstanding racemare Calypso, winner of many Jockey Club Purses 1796-1799; and of Sally Wright, Foundation Mare American Family A34
