One of the best colts of his generation; generally ranked as co-champion three-year-old male in the USA with Clifford. Morello was a great bargain as he cost J. B. Doswell only $110 as a yearling. After winning his first two races, Morello was sold to sold to Frank Van Ness for $5,000. He won 24 races and over $80,000 in his career.
Broke down in 1894 and was retired to stud and died November 28, 1896 at the farm of J.O. Rees, at Contra Costa, California.
