"Sold at His R.H. the Prince of Wales's sale, at Mr. Tattersall's, May 13 1793, to Mr. George Baker, for 55gs. He was a stallion in 1794 and 1795, in the neighbourhood of Richmond, Yorkshire; and was then sold to that eccentric oddity Mr. Lumley Kettlewell, of York, who starved him to death, December 28 1796" [Pick's Turf Register, v3, p. 104]
Kettlewell was notorious for purchasing many horses, including valuable ones, and starving them to death
