The Basset Arabian appears only once in the GSB in the pedigree of the Fox Mare - "her dam by the Bloody Shouldered Arabian - Bassett Arabian - Natural Barb Mare" (although earlier editions of the GSB and Pick's Turf Register record the latter as a Natural Arabian Mare). This Basset Arabian Mare is the second earliest mare in the lineage of Family 29.
The identity and pedigree of the Basset Arabian are unknown, but there is a possibility that he is the same horse as the Pagett Arabian, with the words "Basset" and "Pagett" being confused in the GSB.
