Gimcrack Stakes, Liverpool Summer Cup.Chaucer was small, like his dam, but was an elegant colt with near perfect conformation. eduardHA64 (add pic)
Winner of eight races, he was well fancied for the Royal Hunt Cup as a three year old, but ran badly at the meeting, as did most of George Lambton's stable which was hatching an illness called Pink Eye. Chaucer, who succumbed, was one of the few to recover his form and at the age of 6 he won the Liverpool Summer Cup. Chaucer was twice the leading sire of broodmares. Died February 4 1926.
