Possibly imported and named for the city of Qom (pronouced Koomb) in central Persia [now Iran], as there is no explanation for his name from any of his owners, none of whom were called Coombe, or from any of his stud locations in England.
AKA Pigot Arabian and Bolingbroke's Grey Arabian He had over 25 recorded progeny, principally fair class racehorse Pastime, winner of 12 races, good class racehorse Methodist (1771 King's Plate Newmarket) and an unnamed mare which is dam of Crop (1782 Claret Stakes, 2nd 1781 Derby).
