Just a few examples that always breeding to the same stallion does not necessarily get you success

The test of a quality mare is when the mare is bred to a different stallion each season.
Those Blue Hen mares will breed those superior runners every time as they have that mysterious nicking factor that separates them from those medicore mares.
When you research those Blue Hen mares you will find they dont have a sire line preference, they will produced those quality runners with all sire lines.
On full siblings, the best of the full siblings will make a positive impression in the breeding shed.

I guess if you get one cross that works, you have to decide whether your mare is top quality or not and hence to breed her back or to go for variery.
Say you breed to a variery of sires. If she is top notch, you will get good runners from a diversity of sires and have multiple stallion prospects with different lineages. If she isn't, and it was just that particular cross that worked, you have just wasted a crapton of money in stud fees and several productive seasons of your mare.

Keith's point is that full siblings dont always guarantee success. I agree with that. Keith has made this comment based on track performance.
There are other measures of success, one being sales price. I dont have the ability to verify what the above unsuccessful track horses sold for, but I can imagine they sold for more than they otherwise would have.
