Albert the Great to Pa

Postby Joltman » Wed Jan 09, 2008 7:04 pm

This is good news for Midatlantic breeders

http://breeding.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=43064

I really like His Majesty line and this guy's Avg earnings index exceeds the comparable. Fee dropped to $4K!

He's still 'young' and can possibly get a big horse as well.

Wish I had a mare to breed to him....

Interesting. I took a mare to him last year in KY and will be a pa bred in April if all goes well. Will report on foal at that time. He is very impresive physically in person.

Drat my luck. I had just decided to send a new mare of mine to Albert the Great this year... then started hearing the rumors over the past couple of weeks. Missed opportunities!

Thanks for the info. I like his pedigree and race record. We haven't decided yet who to send our one mare to this year and his price is right

I'll have to check him out.

That puts a good amount of His Majesty blood in the Mid Atlantic: Go for Gin, Cetewayo and Albert the Great.

Here's to many a success for them!

And perhaps a few steeplechasers too???

We're in PA close to where he'll stand & have an open Marquetry mare from the family of Nobiz Like Shobiz who is technically for sale.

We figure no one is buying open mares in this economy. Perhaps we should go visit him.

I really loved this guy when I saw him at Three Chimneys a couple years ago. It's hard to believe he won't be a good match for some Midlantic ladies out there. I knew he wasn't getting much respect among the studs in KY. His price is now about what it should have been, and regional is best chance for success.

KBEquine, what's your Marquetry mare's name? Might be a good choice for her.

Also Bull's Angel looks good on paper in the hypo-mating, but her first two dams are pretty low on black type.

His yearlings are selling for his reduced stud fee. Still a loss for a breeder.

compare Albert's weanling sales to Lite the Fuse at 3.5K or Service Stripe at 3.5k. I wouldnt fork over 4k for ATG until those yearling sales numbers improved.

She is Rocquette -- http://www.pedigreequery.com/rocquette

On her mama's side, she is actually closer related to Romance Is Diane & Badge of Silver than Nobiz Like Shobiz, giving some other interesting breeding possibilities.

She is technically for sale, so we factor that in, too.

We visited Albert yesterday & he's a really good physical match for her, so he's definitely high on the short list.

I love Rocquette with Albert the Great. Quality line-breeding, could make a fine breed-to-race matchup. In my opinion there are no commercially viable $4000 studs. If that's the price range, you need to plan to race the progeny in a beneficial state-bred program, and make sure the mare is a worthy suitor.

Hes been a dud. Most of his horses end up running at or near the bottom and the good ones are few and far between. I dont know why anyone would be excited about sending a decent mare to Albert The Great
