Zenyatta to Tapit

Hmmm.... are they trying to get some preciosity and speed infused here? I think it's an unusual choice, myself. One too many crosses to Mr. P.

I'd much rather see her go to Malibu Moon or back to Bernardini.

and while it will never happen for fear of a behemoth that can't get out of its own shadow, I would love to see a Dynaformer/Zenyatta cross. Same cross as Barbaro.

and while wishing, I'd make an argument for Medaglia D'oro with Zenyatta too. That's the same cross as Rachel Alexandra.

You scared me. That Zenyatta / Dynaformer cross would be 19 hands and not be able to canter until it was 5.

I'm not so sure a stallion with Unbridled as the broodmare sire is going to reduce much of anything, IMHO.

Just curious: how do you get "preciosity" into a horse?

I know, you meant "precocity".

Something about Zenyatta is that she has to have a stallion who will match her physical type. She's very large, so she needs a mid-range stallion in terms of size. Too small risks fish and fowl, too large risks a moose. Ideally her foals will be at most as large as she is, maybe even a little smaller. So there goes most of the Roberto line, Rahy, Point Given, Unbridled's Song.

The next thing is despite her success in north america on dirt and synthetic she is built like a grass horse meant to run a route of ground. The short-coupled, blocked dirt sprinter type doesn't match well, the risk there is a collection of spare parts. Put It Back doesn't match her on those grounds. Neither do Pulpit, Tale of the Cate, etc. Distorted Humor is probably the wrong type as well.

Tapit is a son of Pulpit but not really like him in type. Bernardini takes more after Quiet American than AP Indy.
