ARCH

Postby Shammy Davis » Sun Aug 08, 2010 7:52 am

ARCH is the sire of BLAME, winner of the 2010 Whitney Handicap. Very nice pedigree, particularly the tail-female. My opinion is that no one should be surprised at his stellar racing performance. I'm wondering if we are not seeing a NA emergence of ROBERTO at the same level as Europe. Are there any other ROBERTO line stallions, other than DYNAFORMER, standing in the U. S. or Canada? Is EYE OF THE TIGER one of the few CURE THE BLUES line stallions still standing? This line appears to be disappearing.

If anyone is interested, I would be very interested in a discussion of the future of the ROBERTO line in the U. S. I have always been a great fan of HTR, but early on as he was retired unsound, he got a great deal of bad press. Eighteen starts is alot for a two year old.

What do you think turned things around?

I don't remember him being perceived as unsound. His injury was supposedly from stepping on a shoe on the track. In looking at his progeny list, he has a lot of foals with long careers. I love Hail to Reason in a pedigree, can't ever get enough.

Darby Dan's old guy is still covering a few. He loves Relaunch mares.

Wasn't there someone that on the board that thought every horse that broke down in the US was due to Hail to Reason?

Yes. There was a member who absolutely hated HTR. I can't for the life of me remember who that was.

I surfed the archives and came up with this thread that I started on HTR many years back. We talked about the unsoundness.

Rock Hard Ten and Action This Day are also Roberto line stallions.

Are there any significant CURE THE BLUES line stallions standing besides EYE OF THE TIGER?

I think there were two of them, one hated Turn-to, another one hated Hail to Reason, and now we have you know who with the P nonsense.

I did a search and I can't find them. Apparently, they are no longer posting.

Arch can get you a coarse, rugged individual. He's done his best with mares who are refined and have some speed.

I imagine going through his stakes horses, one will find most are out of mares by speedier and more refined (and lighter boned) stallions.

ASB: BLAME doesn't fit into the coarse category does he?
