Our first colt...

Happy to say that our Beau Genius mare, Carly Pooh, delivered a big, handsome bay colt by Louis Quatorze this morning. Mom & baby doing fine !
Bring 'em back tired ; but bring 'em back sound !

Thanks to all of you ! We tried to take a few pics last night but I think the barn was too dark even with lights on. We'll wait until it warms up a bit, supposedly this weekend, so we can send Mom & baby outdoors to get some sun. Everything around here is ice so keeping them in as a precaution.
This is the 2nd foal for this mare. First time she was 5 days late ; this time exactly 5 days early...go figure ! Foal is a New Jersey bred. We lose out on the extra perks for not using a N.J. stallion but if we ever got a decent one I'd use it. Next stop...Devil His Due for this mare. Still waiting for our other mare to drop her foal by During...should be soon....then off to Mutakddim ( whatever that name means ). :?

It's taxing to this old brain, but I believe they told me years ago at Hill n Dale when I asked about the meaning of "mutakddim", that it means "ahead". 8)

Nice choices for stallions for your mares. Congrats on your new little fella!

I love Devil His Due..saw him race in NY and was sitting in the box in front of his owner once...loved the story where he bit the IRS agent for trying to tag him
