has anyone evaluated or bred to Bowmans Band?
Has there been much written in this forum about Bowmans Band as a sire, his conformation, pedigree, prospects, has anyone seen any of his foals?
I have not seen him in person, but have booked my mare Hop to It to him after her April foal is on the ground. I've felt she was an ideal mate for a son of Dixieland Band, and he is good value. I love Dixie Union, but not at the price. It seems Lane's End Farm needed to have a value-priced stallion by the old man in addition to DU.

I saw him a while ago when he was at Maryland Stallion Station -- his pictures don't do him justice. He is lovely & balanced.
I saw him in January and he was very nice looking. I must say, most of the stallions I saw were not nearly as impressive in person as they look in the Stallion Register, but he was one of the few I liked. Just for reference, I also really liked the looks of Mineshaft, Posse, Value Plus to name a few off the top of my head that do measure up to their pics. If you like any of those you should like Bowman's Band. One of my better mares is a horse on pony legs, so I liked him for her as he should add some size. If your mares pedigree matches up nicely I think he would be worth a shot.
Good Luck!

I called Lanes End last month on Bowman's Band. They provided me with a Bowman's Band cd, Lane's End 2007 stallion roster catalog and a Alan Porter written matings book for the stallions.
My alma mater was Faber College.
We had a saying at Faber...Knowledge is good.
Now, go get some. Lane's End's number is 859-873-7300

Bowman's Band
We checked out Bowman's Band just today and he IS beautiful. He is all of 16.2h and very balanced. I heard he is currently at 80 mares. If you had a "brick house" of a mare, as we do, he would really add some leg and he would add some typiness, as he is really 'pretty' for a boy!!
He is on our list as a favorite for our late foaling mare.

Thank you for all replys. As a new member I have been reading many back posts and have really learned quite a bit and have enjoyed most of the material.
After reading so much I was beginning to doubt my ability to recognize a balanced, good looking horse. I had bred to Bowmans Band in 2006 and should have a foal in a couple of weeks. I once again feel quite hopeful thanks to your replys.

What is there not to like?
Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 placer...34 starts earning over a million, over $100,000 all four years (try finding that in a sire). 20 triple digit Beyers Speed figures. Rag# 1/4 anything under 4 is very nice click here for explaination on that
http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/stalli ... lained.pdf
By proven sire Dixieland Band producing 7 miilion...with a strong female family. Looks balanced and good looking in his picture (nice shoulder!) and size to match. Priced for only $6,000
I have a strong feeling this sire will do well.

WARNING: As in any enterprise, those seeking advice in TB breeding decisions should seek and take counsel from those people with proven track records. Claiming horses can be bred by anyone, without much effort or skill. Stakes horses, especially those of graded caliber, are a much safer litmus test of a breeder's accomplishments. Opinions, as they say, are like relatives; everyone has them. Adhere to the advice of people who have been breeding horses for more than a few days and you'll be better off.
