Secretariat I never quite got, what is a secretariat anyways? Some sort of poltical group or cabinet? I think of the SOviet Union...
SPectacular Bid is great because it is an allusion to history, in this case, it's part of the stretch call from one of the derby races, 1967 perhaps??
I like names that:
a) refer to geography, especially if the geography is horse relevant. Good: Rockport Harbor. Great: Damascus, Holy Land.
b) I like an allusion to a person but only if the person is obvious imaginary. Bad name: Chris Evert, Shecky Greene. Good: Kaui King, Majestic Prince; Aloma's Ruler. Some of the last names only are okay if a real person: Singletary, Sarazen, etc.'
c) I like ones that are inanimate/intangible. Sunday Silence, nice! Street sense is similar I guess.
Not really intangible but they are like conceptual as they describe a person or thing: An Easy Goer, a Buckpasser.
d) I like historical allusions; Spectacular Bid; Birdstone (calls to mind his sire as well as 19th cent. horse Birdcatcher), Eddington reminds me of old England. Canterbury Pilgrim is nice as horses canter..
e) Also some that sound good: Like Charismatic, it's four beats, you can almost hear the hoof beats. Tudor Minstrel sounds good.
Some are vaguely sexual but you really dont know: Hidden Talent. Most of the sexual allusions really annoy me, at least the owner's explained Rock Hard Ten so that was tolerable.
HOw about that show horse that was recently cloned: Scamper. It sounds good to the ear, and it really describes what they do. I guess.

Does anyone know what a Mutakddim is? Or an Aljabr? Or an Alwuhush? Or an Anabaa? Or a Dumaani? Or an Eqtesaad?
For all we know, these could all be curse words. Does the Jockey Club do any research on what these words mean?
Suppose two Sheikhs get into a fight and one says, "Go Mutakddim yourself!!!" Is that an appropriate name for a horse?

Cartoons have been known to cause beheadings and riots, in this day and age. 
Might want to purchase a dictionary for translating.

I have noted this horses name a few times-this is the first time I actually pronounced it-and I fell out of my chair-then started laughing....Its great-this duo has had a few like this if I am not mistaken-

It took me forever to figure out what was wrong with Dixie Norma's. I was falling to sleep one night when it pop into my head
