Our New Addition - It's the year of CHROME!!! :)

Postby Bondama » Tue Apr 03, 2007 5:52 am

Here is our new little girl, barn named April. She was born 3/30 at 5am and is her mama's first and was a textbook delivery. She laid down at 4:45, delivered baby at 5:00 and baby was up and nursing by 5:30. Mama is a beautiful bay TB with an interesting story (Mercedes), and Dad is our perlino QH, WF Indian Bill.

She has 2 white stockings in the rear, one white sock in the front and a smutty black sock on the other front. HUGE white blaze!!! Chrome chrome chrome!! This one is a keeper.

Sorry this pic is sideways - I can't download the program to rotate it because it's my work computer! Just turn your head. :) You can see her legs and feet pretty good here, except for the left front. It's a black sock and a black hoof.

If anyone has good ideas on a name, let me know. We are Trinity Ranch, so I lean more towards names that have biblical references. Dad is Cutter Bill, Hollywood Bill, Hollywood Gold, Three Bars, Poco Bueno (he's in the all breed database too). I don't know who Mom "is"....meaning she came without her papers and I have never been able to track down her breeder, even with the use of a private detective. Don't know any of her pedigree. Her story is that she was bred to race, trained unsuccessfully (not fast enough) and was sold off as a 2 year old in a group of other 2 year olds. The buyer of the lot then sold them individually and she was purchased by a woman who just trail rode her every now and then, and named her Mercedes. It could be her stud fee was never paid, I don't know. She's a gorgeous, well built, mare with a wonderful disposition, albeit a little protective of this filly. The filly will be registered with IBHA. Our plans are to keep this one and show her in Florida.

Look at her and tell me if that is a dorsal stripe or countershading....

She's beautiful! And yes - it is the year of chrome! Will she fit in the car and make the trip to OH. Looks like she'll fit....

I'm not great at names but I love gold - you know - "nothing feels like real gold" - I buy into THAT commercial (HA). So I'd keep with the gold theme.

:D Congratulations on a beautiful baby and textbook foal-out, those seem a little hard to come by these days...

As soon as I saw her, though, my mind went beyond gold, to me, she is every bit a "Platinum Miss" or "Platinum Lady" or "Platinum" something...just my two cents...

..."Trinity's Platinum Edition?"

Cheers!

Really cute! She could be a dun. It looks like Dad has a dorsal and his bottom line is has dunalino but don't know if dam was or not. But they could also be false dorsals. Has he produced other dun looking foals? Or can you see any faint dun factor markings (zebra stripes, etc)? It may be the only way to tell for sure is if one of his single dilute dorsal marked foals produces a non dilute true dun. :? Hopefully they will have a test someday!
