New TB owner interested in pedigree on the filly I purchased

Greetings. I am a new TB owner...and although I have had TB crosses (and horses in general) throughout my entire life, this is my first all TB and she comes out of some racing stock that shows some promising athleticism. Her half brother on the sires side was Washington's TB of the year for 2006. It is my understanding that her dam is out of some distance running stock..?

I have never scrutinized a TB pedigree, as my interests have been outside of racing and have little depth of knowledge for TB pedigrees in general. I am familiar with fine horse flesh...and she definitely is that. Any thoughts anyone has that they would be interested in sharing on her pedigree....I would certainly appreciate.

Would you consider her female family or her pedigree - strong ? Is there value in her pedigree? Or is she more of average calibur?

I see a tremendous amount of scope and speed in this filly - and although she has a lot of heat and sass, she has more attention and trainability than I expected she would have....a great mind. The TB race spectator in me can see her on the track....but the sport rider in me is certainly glad to have her here at home.

Any other feedback - positive or negative is welcome.

She has a top-class female family. I would consider crossing her with a stallion from the same female family: that cross has oftentimes proved effective. You could try crossing her with a more remote strain if you wanted to.

If, by value in her pedigree, you mean could your filly produce a foal that would attract commercial appeal as a racing prospect, probably not, especially if she's unraced. Right now, the nearest blacktype winner on the catalogue page would be under the 4th dam, which is probably one reason your filly's half bro. sold as a weanling for less than $1k. Although there are some routers (distance) back in her pedigree, most of the recent success in her closer tail female line has been at sprints.

I have taken some time to look over various posts on this site and not only do I appreciate the feedback to me, as a novice newbie....both of you (and many others) go to great lengths and take quite a bit of time to research and inform others that post questions. What a great resource you all are.

As for my filly...although I appreciate her sire, I REALLY like her dam. There are no race stats on the website - and although her owners say she was raced and had a career ending injury at late 2, I see no evidence of it. She has a very old style TB design, as opposed to the sire who looks like a QH to me. I gather that is better for the sprinter desires many have. The filly takes after her dam, but has a little better substance.

Per the APR your filly's dam, Always Pleasing, was unplaced in two starts as a 2yo, once on dirt, once on turf. She did pick up a check in one or both races, since she's shown as earning $834. Both she and her dam Carterette have other foals of racing age that may be on the track and bear watching.

Okay....so in searching a little further along my filly's dam and such, I noticed that she has a full sibling. A 2004 model that has not bee raced. When I get the paperwork all completed for the transfer of my filly, JC membership, etc.....will I be able access owner information on other TB horses. Would it be of poor taste or etiquette to contact the owner of that offspring? I am curious to see the horse (and if the horse were as nice as the filly...and for sale.....maybe purchasing the horse). I assume the registry would be a decent place to start?

Any direction on that line of questioning would be helpful.

Always Gold (the '04) has been raced. The JC will disclose his vitals (not incl. racing info) online to registered users. If you're willing to pay a small fee you can get his racing rcd. to date + name of trainer & owner at the time of his last race right now from equibase or brisnet. People are unpredictable, but I doubt his connections would consider a courteous inquiry from the owner of his full sib to be in poor taste.
