Coming into heat/off feed?

Yesterday morning, Bell was disinterested in her grain & hay. She seemed mopey, but I couldn't find any telltale signs that anything was wrong. I asked my hubby to keep an eye on her and he called me to tell me that our gelding was following her around, showing all signs that she was in heat...

She is completely fine now, ate all her grain last night. All I could guess is that her heat cycle affected her appetite. So I thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced this.

Some mares turn into pigs during their heat cycles and some go off their feed. It isn't something to be worried about.

Thanks! She's never been one to show strong outward signs when in heat so this was new to me... usually our gelding is the only tip-off! :wink:

I'll know now if it happens again.

Our 10 yr old warmblood mare doesnt eat for about 4 days and it is the only way to tell she is in heat as she doesnt show to a stallion. Needless to say, in 4 years of trying she has never gotten in foal even with AI. We finally have given up on her.
