Stallion suggestions to cross witha Fighting Fit mare

Postby SouthernStar » Wed May 30, 2007 12:05 am

I am starting to look for stallion crosses for a Fighting Fit mare, named Fighting Diva. Any help would be greatly appreciated, 15,000. or under.

Hi

There are a few negatives to consider. Not much recent production from this branch of the family, however, historically there have been some good runners from this clan, such as G1 winners, Play Fellow, Score Twenty Four, and Milingo. The 6th dam (tail female) Riant, won the Adirondack Stakes (now G2). This would have to be a breed to race type, with not a lot to augment a catalog page and warrant much in the way of sales potential. Fighting Fit has done OK as a broodmare sire. I wouldn't go too high with a stud fee. You should probably go with a proven stallion, but if you wanted to gamble, new stallion Beau Soleil presents a very nicely balanced conduit mare pofile with her.
How is her conformation? Beau is a very good looking stallion bred by Charlotte Wrather, and owned by Darryl Jones.

The mare has good conformation, can't say there is anything that needs to be improved. She was injured as a yearling and not raced. I actually have not been able to find that much on Fighting Fit offspring. Am I to think he wasn't much of a race sire?

Fighting fit was a fine sprinter, earning in excess of 1 million dollars. At stud he sired hard knocking useful types, his best being Fighting Fantasy ($572,820) and the G3 winning filly, Lady Sonata, who is the dam of winners. Fighting Fit is emerging as a decent broodmare sire. His daughter Delta Lady (3rd in the G1 Spinaway) produced the $270,000 winner, Delta Quick. Other daughters that have done well are, Beauty Queen, dam of the stakes winner, Mattie Cakes, Badger Beauty, dam of stakes placed winner, Royal Flyer, Robyn's Irish, dam of Motel Shot (83-9-8-16 and $101,910), and Running Fit, dam of Prime Queen (39-11-8-5, $261,468). Prime Queen is owned in partnership by Ken Ramsey and others, and her dam only earned a little over $1000 on the track.
I think Fighting Fit (inbred to Bull Dog, 5x3) will prove to be a very useful broodmare sire. His own broodmare sire, Nilo (1945), was among the leading broodmare sires in Australia.
