I doubt it as A.I. is not allowed.

I know the great steeplechase sire, Mokheiba, might have semen saved as he was a sport horse sire as well.

Also, Spectacular Bid might...

Look for stallions that crossed over to the sport horse world.

Doubtful that they would have as the Jockey club won't register the foals. I cannot see the logic myself of not allowing frozen semen with today's DNA capabilities. I have several of my stud dogs collected and frozen some we collected 23 years and 18 years ago.

The Russian horse Anilin, who won the "Preis von Europa" three times. He had progeny that was "created" after his death.

I happen to have a freezer full from Man O War, Seabiscuit and John Henry............im willing to sell it for 29.99$ per vile. Min. Order 1000 viles. Cash preffered but willing to trade for the Caramilk secret.

It makes me wonder that IF someone did this (I doubt anyone did it here unless they were also already using the horse for sport horses) like say they collected Barbaro when he was knocked out for cast changes. They bred TB mares with it. Could they get a racing permit for the foal? They would have a purebred TB with DNA verified parents and Amazing Philly had an unknown sire and she got a racing permit. I know you would then have to FIGHT to get breeding papers (as in court) if the foal turned out to have any racing talent. Makes me wish someone with deep pockets would try it! :D

Maybe I'm nuts.... but if I had a spectacular thoroughbred stallion I would freeze semen just on the outside chance that maybe, someday, in the future it would be allowed.

More likely than not, if AI is ever allowed, only semen from living stallions could be used.

However, if I owned Storm Cat, I would freeze his semen, the storage fees are next to nothing compared to what his semen might be worth.

I also wouldn't tell ANY ONE about it ;)

Horse semen doesn't tolerate freezing very well. Freezing will kill all sperm cells after freezing of half the horses, the other half will lose at least half of the motility. Horse semen is not as durable as cattle or humans sperm. If you could find it, most likely it wouldn’t work.

Well lets say your Storm Cats groom and.......blech.... and you own a stallion and a few mares whats to stop the ol switcheroo. Provided you breed to race as it would be by some plug on paper. Savvy?
