Mother Goose Stakes
Well, they just run the Mother Goose Stakes, and the winner was Octave, now a GRI winning daughter of Unbridled's Song. Rokeby, what happenned with Boca Grande, she really got trashed today (again).

Speed favoring track...but from 4th in the Acorn, she was 3rd in the Mother Goose - set up perfectly for the CCAO, her real goal.

horses's aren't machines.. just because a horse ran 2nd 5 times in GRADE 1's in the past doesn't mean she was going to do so again. everytime she got beat, she got beat by VERY good horses.
As for Rok......tisk tisk
The Suburban might be the worst ran Grade 1 in the history of horse racing. Every horse looked like they just left a bar at 5 in the morning coming down the lane.
Corinthian something wasn't right with him.... than again maybe he just had an attitude today.
better hurry to that shed before the door closes!

Yeah, the Suburban was an odd race...looked liked they were going in slow motion or something. As for Corinthian, he had no response whatsoever. I give the jockey credit for not beating the horse to get moving when it was obvious the horse was going nowhere.

had to be to stud.. and I don't blame em either... assumine he races to the end of the year.
when they are on tv, I'm not really paying attention to what is said

The chart just came up for the Mother Goose. Boca Grande was 38 1/2 lengths behind Lady Joanne. I realize it was a fast pace, but still. I don't see how that kind of race sets her up "perfectly" for the CCA Oaks. I think the bare facts may be that she just ain't a first tier filly. Or, a second tier one, either, if you look at Rags to Riches as being by herself on the first tier.

Ooops, my bad. Was looking at the wrong line. But, for future reference, I have no parade or agenda. Unlike some, I am not looking for things to prove my tightly held biases. I actually wanted Boca Grande to win today.
Once again, the "world beater" that is Boca Grande has proven a step below in G1 company. Rok has trashed Octave every chance he's gotten and talked up the might BG as the best 3 yo filly in the country. I really hope you can at least admit she's the one who's second tier, not the consistent Octave.
Don't be so humble - you are not that great.
